# Frequently Asked Questions about the Interrater Reliability Certification

### How is this certification module different from the previous AEPS IRR certification modules?

The AEPS-3 Interrater Reliability Certification module measures reliable scoring of the AEPS-3 Test, which has significant changes from the previous edition’s test. Unlike the certification modules for AEPS, 2nd edition, this module spans the combined birth to six-year age range and includes Literacy and Math areas, just like the AEPS-3 Test. The AEPS-3 certification module includes closed-captioned videos and clear item criteria for scoring. AEPS-3 users should complete this new module to demonstrate accuracy using the AEPS-3 Test.

### How long does a user have access to the IRR certification module?

Access is provided for one year from date of purchase for individuals purchasing the module. If users activate access to the module using a code provided by their organization, access is provided for one year from date of activation.

### What training is available?

There is a Scoring Guide that reviews the key principles of administering and scoring the AEPS-3 Test. This narrated tutorial provides a good refresher on the scoring guidelines explained in Volume 2: AEPS-3 Assessment. The Scoring Guide also offers practice test items to help users get familiar with the certification test. Users will have a chance to view video clips, review AEPS-3 items and criteria, and see how to mark answers.

### How many videos are included in the certification test?

The certification test includes 36 video clips (0:05–3:37 minutes in length) that test 65 AEPS-3 items.

### How long does the certification module take?

Users should expect to take approximately 2–4 hours to complete the Scoring Guide and certification test. Users can exit their browser and resume the test at a later time, if necessary. The test will timeout after 4 total hours in-browser.

### Are test results available immediately?

Yes. Users can view their total score, as well as their scores in each AEPS-3 area. They can see which items they answered correctly and incorrectly compared to the gold standard scoring as determined by AEPS-3 experts.

### What score is needed to achieve certification?

An overall score of 80% or higher is needed.

### What is provided as proof of certification?

When a user passes the test, a certificate is created and saved in the User’s profile to print and/or download.

### How long is interrater reliability certification valid?

Certification is valid for 3 years.

### How many times can a user attempt certification?

The certification module includes two certification tests (Test 1 and Test 2). Users who do not receive 80% correct or higher on Test 1 will find guidance for how to prepare before taking Test 2. Users are encouraged to prepare for one month but have an enforced time restriction of one week before they may take Test 2. If they do not pass either test, they must wait one year from their subscription start date and repurchase the certification module to attempt certification again. Users will have access to the training and practice materials to strengthen skills before reattempting certification.

### Can multiple people share a subscription?

No, each person needs their own account.

### How can users access technical support?

For technical support using the AEPS-3 IRR or AEPS training website, users should click Help in the top navigation bar to submit a Help Desk ticket through the link “Help Desk-Contact Form,” also available at [https://aepstraining.com/mod/page/view.php?id=13](https://aepstraining.com/mod/page/view.php?id=13).
